Achievements: World Championships:
1973 3rd place in Women’s Doubles (with Beatrix Kishazi/HUN)

Her first coach Leo Thompson was very certain about the abilities of the young girl who was ever present at his coaching sessions in Slough; Jill Shirley, later Jill Hammersley and now Jill Parker, was always present waiting for the door to open. A defensive player, the only English player to win the Women’s Singles title at a European Championships.
